South Africa left-arm quick Kwena Maphaka picked up his first four-for in T20I cricket on Sunday (August 10), breaking a Full Member record.
The Proteas faced off against Australia in Darwin, in the first of three T20Is between the sides. South Africa skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and chose to put the hosts in to bat.
The powerplay overs were thrill-a-minute as Australia scored 71 in the first six, but also lost four wickets in the process. Nineteen-year-old left-arm quick Kwena Maphaka was introduced in the seventh over, and struck with his fourth delivery to knock back Mitchell Owen's off stump.

After an expensive over in the ninth of the innings, Maphaka was re-introduced in the 15th, and broke a 59-run seventh wicket stand by dismissing Ben Dwarshuis. In his final over, the 19th of the innings, Australia top-scorer Tim David was dropped off the first ball, before Tristan Stubbs held on to a catch at long-on. Three deliveries later, Adam Zampa holed out in the deep to help Maphaka finish with figures of 4-20.
Maphaka becomes youngest Full Member seamer to take a four-for in men's T20Is
Aged 19 years and 124 days, Maphaka is now the youngest seam bowler from a Full Member nation to take four wickets in a men's T20 international. The previous record was held by compatriot and fellow left-arm pacer Wayne Parnell, who took 4-13 against the West Indies in June 2009, aged 19 years and 318 days.
Five spinners – Noor Ahmad, George Dockrell, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Rashid Khan and Shadab Khan – have taken four-fors for a Full Member nation at a younger age than Maphaka.
