Hermann brothers

Brothers, Jordan and Rubin Hermann, both scored half-centuries in South Africa A’s total of 299-9 in the first unofficial “Test” against India A.

Hermann brothers take South Africa A to 299-9 despite Kotian strikes

South Africa A ended the first day at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru on 299-9. Anshul Kamboj removed Lesego Senokwane for a duck after Rishabh Pant – in his comeback match since his injury in the Old Trafford Test match – won the toss and opted to field, but Jordan Hermann (71) and Zubayr Hamza (66) put on 132 for the second wicket.

India A pulled things back when Tanush Kotian (4-83) reduced the visitors to 197-5, but Rubin Hermann – nearly five years older than Jordan – made 54, adding 72 for the sixth wicket with Tiaan van Vuuren (46). However, Kotian struck again, and South Africa A finished the day on 299-9 after 85.2 overs of cricket.

Who are the Hermann brothers?

The Hermann brothers grabbed global limelight earlier this year in the SA20, when Rubin scored a fifty for the Paarl Royals, and Jordan for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, in the same match. The brothers were also in excellent form for South Africa A against New Zealand A earlier this year.

Earlier this month, Jordan scored a second-innings 156 for the Warriors against Boland, but Rubin topped that with 143 and 108 for North West against Western Province in the same round. Rubin has also played six T20Is for South Africa this year.
