India spinner Sree Charani has achieved the highest-ever rating in the ICC Women's T20I Bowling Rankings after her impressive run across the Asia Cup and Asian Games.
Shree Charani, already ranked No.1 in T20Is, has risen to a career-high 817 points in the latest rankings update. This is now the highest rating achieved by anyone in the history of the format. Shree Charani surpassed the previous record of 806, set by Australia's Megan Schutt in November 2018.
The left-arm spinner played a key role in India's successful campaigns in both tournaments. She claimed 12 wickets during the Women's Asia Cup, including 4-20 in the final against Sri Lanka as India secured their eighth title with a 72-run victory.
Shree Charani carried that form into the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. She recorded career-best figures of 4-10 against the hosts to help India reach the semi-final, before taking two wickets in the gold medal match against Sri Lanka. India won that game by 147 runs, with Shree Charani's performance taking her rating to 817.
Since her T20I debut against England last June, Shree Charani has played 33 matches till date. She has claimed 62 wickets at 12.56 with an economy rate of 6.32, the most wickets by a Full Member bowler in this duration. She has also played 21 ODIs, taking 27 scalps, and a Test against England at Lord’s this year.
Sophie Ecclestone is the only other bowler who has breached the 800-ranking point in women’s T20Is apart from Shree Charani and Schutt. Her highest of 802 was in 2023.
Deepti Sharma also moved up after the Asian Games. Her three wickets in the final took her to 754, leaving her second in the T20I bowling rankings, while Ecclestone remains third with 723.
Smriti Mandhana has returned to the top five among T20I batters after her 79 in the Asian Games final. Australia's Beth Mooney continues to lead the batting charts with 785 points, followed by Georgia Voll. Shafali Varma is fourth, after Laura Wolvaardt.
