Warwickshire have signed India opener Pratika Rawal for the remainder of their Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign, with the batter set to join the Bears ahead of the next round of fixtures starting on August 19.
Rawal, who has established herself as one of the leading opening batters in ODI cricket since making her international debut in 2024, arrives at Edgbaston after a standout year with India. The 25-year-old played a key role in India's successful 2025 ODI World Cup campaign, finishing as the team’s second-highest run-scorer, with 308 runs at 51.33 in six innings, before missing the knockouts due to injury.
Her rise at international level has been rapid. Rawal became the fastest to score 500 ODI runs, in just eight innings, and then became the joint-fastest to make 1,000 runs, reaching the milestone in 23 innings. She made five successive fifties last year, ending 2025 with 976 runs, the third-most ODI runs in a calendar year.
Warwickshire Women head coach Ali Maiden said Rawal's arrival would strengthen the squad's push for a strong finish to the season.
"This is a fantastic signing for the team, and we’re very pleased to be able to welcome Pratika to Edgbaston," Maiden said. "We’re in a good position in the One Day Cup table, so bringing in a player of Pratika’s calibre can only strengthen our line-up."
Rawal said she was excited by the opportunity to play county cricket in England. "I’ve heard so many good things about the club, and I’m excited to get started and try to help the team as much as I can. Walking out at Edgbaston, such an iconic ground in world cricket, is something I’m looking forward to."
Rawal will be available for Warwickshire's One Day Cup fixture against Yorkshire at Edgbaston on August 19.
