The sixth round of the Belvidere Cup, Sydney's first-grade competition, began on Saturday (November 8). At the Sydney University Oval No.1, Western Suburbs faced off against a Sydney University side that counted a Test cricketer in their XI; England seamer Ollie Robinson.

Having last played Test cricket in early 2024, Robinson is currently in Australia, but not for the Ashes which kicks off in 11 days' time. Instead, he is turning out for Sydney University.

Sydney University skipper Damien Mortimer won the toss and elected to field. Robinson opened the bowling but first got into the action when he held a catch to dismiss Mohammad Javed Ahmadi off the bowling of Cameron Frendo.

Robinson's first wicket came when he rapped 20-year-old left-hander Harjas Singh on the pads, and successfully appealed for lbw. That was his only scalp of the innings, as Kieran Tate's 5-34 helped bowl Western Suburbs out for 199.

Who is Harjas Singh?

A former Australia U19 cricketer, Harjas top-scored for the side with 55 as they beat India in the U19 World Cup final in 2024. However, he made headline far more recently for an astounding innings in a 50-over competition in grade cricket earlier this year.

Last month, he hit an incredible 35 sixes en route to a triple century, 314 off 141 balls. It was the third-highest score ever recorded in New South Wales premier cricket, after Victor Trumper's 335 in 1902/03 and Phil Jaques' 321 in 2006/07.
