Saly Samson is set to play alongside his brother, Sanju Samson, in the 2025 Kerala Cricket League. Here’s everything you need to know about the 34-year-old cricketer.
Saly was part of the Kochi Blue Tigers during the inaugural season. He was sold back to the franchise at his base price of INR 75,000 during the 2025 Kerala Cricket League auction after receiving no other bids. He will now team up with his brother Sanju, who became the most expensive player in KCL history after being bought for INR 26.80 lakh - nine times his INR 3 lakh base price.
Who is Saly Samson?
Born in Pulluvila, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, the 34-year-old Saly is the elder brother of Indian international Sanju Samson. He made his List A debut on October 27, 2021 in Sri Lanka’s Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament (the country’s premier List A competition), playing six matches for Badureliya Sports Club. An all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls seam, Saly scored 38 runs in those games at an average of 7.60, with a highest score of 15.
Saly's career has been ravaged by prolonged injuries and surgeries. This struggle was evident in a 2021 Facebook post – just one month before his List A debut – where his brother Sanju hailed his comeback after injuries had devoured "four long years" of his career.

Saly's age-group career for Kerala included appearances in the 2011/12 Cooch Behar Trophy (U19), multiple CK Nayudu Trophy campaigns (2011/12 and 2015/16, U23), and three matches in the 2015 Buchi Babu Invitation Tournament.
He has represented the AG Office Kerala team since 2015 by virtue of being a staff member. His recent outings for the office team came in the 2025 IA & AD Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournament.
