Suryansh Shedge wasn’t even in India’s main squad announced for Ireland and England tours. Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy both got injured, which paved the way for Shedge’s maiden call-up to the national side. But being a seam-bowling all-rounder helped him leapfrog many players and make his debut in the second T20I against Ireland in Belfast.
Who is Suryansh Shedge?
Apart from being a seam-bowling all-rounder, Shedge is also a brilliant finisher when it comes to T20 cricket. He hogged the headlines first in the 2024/25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy when he smashed 131 runs at a strike rate of 252 and an average of 43.66 with 13 sixes.
He played a crucial role in Mumbai lifting the trophy that season, while also winning the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 36 off 15 in the 175-run chase, along with a wicket. Overall, Shedge grabbed eight wickets in the season at an average of 23.
Since then, the youngster hasn’t looked back and has been a regular feature for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League as well. In the recently concluded IPL 2026, Shedge smashed 158 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 176 with 12 sixes.
Overall, in 30 T20 matches so far, 23-year-old Shedge has 356 runs at a strike rate of 179 while mostly batting down the order. He is also known for six-hitting ability and has already smacked 29 maximums in his career so far, to go with 17 fours.
Shedge has already made a name for his swashbuckling batting and has picked 13 wickets in 18 innings in the shortest format as well.
He was recently in action for India A in the One-Day tri-series involving Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A where he scored 147 runs at an average of 36.75 and picked two wickets while mostly filling in as a sixth or seventh bowler of the team.
