India and South Africa stayed firmly in the race to Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals with comfortable wins on Thursday, June 26. Here's how the points tables look like after the results.
India defeated Bangladesh in their penultimate group game, chasing down a modest target of 137 runs in less than 17 overs with five wickets to spare. Shafali Verma was the star of the run chase; however, it was their bowling attack, especially spinners, who played a vital role in the win, restricting the opposition to just 136 runs, even though the fielders dropped multiple catches.
On the other hand, South Africa notched up their third consecutive win, thumping the Netherlands by 88 runs in a one-sided encounter. Tazmin Brits slammed an unbeaten 114 off 69 deliveries with 15 fours and three sixes to propel South Africa to 208 runs in 20 overs. In response, the Netherlands could only muster 120 runs for the loss of eight wickets despite being 100/1 at one stage.

With both India and South Africa winning their respective matches, there was no change in the standings in the Group A points table. Australia remain on top with four wins in as many games, while India are second with three wins from four matches and thanks to their superior net run-rate. South Africa are still recovering in terms of NRR and in third place despite having the same number of wins as India.
Australia already have one foot in the semi-finals due to their extraordinary NRR. However, their game against India on Sunday is of massive significance, and will largely decide the outcome of the group.
