Biography
A quiet operator behind the stumps but a steadily rising presence with the bat, Kira Meghan Chathli has carved out a reputation as a dependable wicketkeeper-batter in England’s domestic circuit, blending composure with moments of attacking flair. Born on 29 July 1999 in Southwark, London, Chathli is a right-handed batter and wicketkeeper who began her cricketing journey at a very young age, making her county debut for Surrey at just 14.
Chathli’s early years with Surrey were about gradual progression, but she grew into a regular member of the side by 2019, contributing consistently across formats. A notable early highlight came in 2020 when she played a crucial hand in Surrey’s London Cup triumph, guiding a tense chase with a composed unbeaten knock. She also achieved a rare milestone in club cricket by scoring a 50+ score in a men’s match for Dulwich Cricket Club, a reflection of her adaptability and confidence.
Her move into the regional setup with South East Stars in 2021 marked a significant step up. She was part of their Charlotte Edwards Cup-winning campaign and gradually evolved into a consistent run-scorer, including multiple half-centuries in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. By 2024, she enjoyed one of her most productive spells, averaging over 50 in the competition and reinforcing her credentials as a reliable top-order option.
Chathli has been a familiar face in England’s franchise ecosystem, representing Oval Invincibles, Trent Rockets, and London Spirit in The Hundred, where she gained valuable exposure to high-pressure cricket. She was part of the title-winning Oval Invincibles side, adding early silverware to her career. Her growth has also translated into leadership, as she took over the 50-over captaincy of Surrey Women, underlining her rising stature. In 2026, she continued her upward trajectory by earning a move to MI London, further cementing her place in the evolving franchise circuit. Her hard work finally paid off when she was called up for the ODI series against New Zealand in the same year.
