Biography

Born on 20 October 1992, Madeline Lee Green is a dependable right-handed batter who has been a strong presence for New Zealand and her domestic team Auckland. She made her mark early on and steadily built a solid reputation in the domestic setup. Her hard work paid off immensely when she won the Ruth Martin Cup for her excellent batting at the New Zealand Cricket Awards in April 2018. This domestic success quickly set the stage for her international milestones. Green made her WT20I debut in 2012, against Australia, but had to wait for a couple of years before playing her first WODI in 2014.

June 2018 was a landmark month for Green as she scored her first century in ODIs with a brilliant 121 runs against Ireland. Her impressive performances on the tours of Ireland and England earned her a central contract from New Zealand Cricket in August of that same year. Recognised as a vital part of the team, she was selected for the 2018 T20 World Cup in the West Indies. She continued to be a mainstay in global tournaments, featuring in the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia and the 2022 ODI World Cup on home soil.

Green also proudly represented her country at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Her experience and calm presence kept her in the national framework for years. In September 2024, she was once again trusted to perform on the big stage and was named in the New Zealand squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they became champions. Shortly after that tournament, she travelled with the team for an important ODI tour to India in October 2024.

Continuing her cricket journey around the globe, Green expanded her horizons in May 2025 by signing a short-term contract to play for the English club The Blaze. She remained an active and highly valued player for New Zealand through the rest of 2025 and into 2026. By 2026, she continued to balance her domestic duties for Auckland with her international commitments, bringing veteran leadership to her squads and showing incredible dedication to the sport.
