Biography

Nelon Pascal is a young Grenada fast bowler who is expected to provide more teeth to the West Indies attack with his express pace.

In 2008, the right arm fast bowler made news when on debut he rocked Barbados’ top order with a whirlwind 4 for 70. A county season in Durham was followed by an impressive 2008-09 domestic season where he picked up 25 wickets and immediately came under the radar of the national team. Selected for the test series against England and the home series against Bangladesh, Pascal made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2009 which was partly due to the unavailability of several top West Indian players following a contractual dispute. He lost his place thereafter but a year later made an unimpressive Test debut against South Africa.

Pascal’s recent inclusions have been partly due to the bare West Indian cupboard rather than potential performances. But it is his raw pace which if developed with a few more variations will hold him in good stead in the future.
