Biography
Standing at an impressive 6 feet 3 inches, Ramith Rambukwella is not your average batsman. With a strapping built, he has the ability to clear the boundaries and this was endorsed none other than by the Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya. Batting in the middle order, Rambukwella is handful especially in the T20 format where he can use the long handle to damaging effect. His off breaks are also a valuable asset. Rambukwella had been very potent with the ball during Kenya's T20 series against Sri Lanka A and had also featured in the team that beat New Zealand A in October 2013. Rambukwella took five wickets at 11.60 in that series.
An international cap wasn't far away and these performances saw him earn his place in the T20I against New Zealand at home on November 21st, 2013. Though he did not get a chance to wield the willow, he was impressive with his off breaks picking up a solitary wicket and stayed economical at the same time.
