Vista RidersBiography
A right-hand batsman from Delhi, Unmukt Chand scored over 400 runs at an impressive average of 57.14 in his debut first-class season. A knock of 151 against the Railways and two half centuries were witness to his prowess as an opening batsman.
Chand has been an integral part of the India Under-19 team and his consistent performances have often helped the team's cause. He became the youngest player to have played in the IPL, when he was signed by the Delhi Daredevils for the fourth season at the tender age of 17. In 2012, Chand was selected to captain the Under 19 team for the quadrangular series in Australia and he did a good job as India won that tournament with the skipper scoring an unbeaten hundred in the final. His inspirational captaincy also guided the team to success in the Under-19 Asia Cup, where the right-hander was in the form of his life, scoring two consecutive centuries in semi-finals as well as the final. The final however, ended in a thrilling tie against arch rivals Pakistan.
The youngsters purple patch continued later in the year, when the Indian Under-19 team won the Under-19 World Cup in Australia beating defending champions, Australia under his responsible captaincy. Once again, it was the skipper who led from the front, scoring an unbeaten century to guide his team home. After the World Cup, it hasn't been the best of runs for the youngster. He does play for Delhi Ranji team but hasn't had the 'career-changing' season yet. He was bought by Rajasthan for Rs. 65 lakhs in the seventh season of the Indian T20 League. He will gain tremendous knowledge and experience in the company of Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson, Ajinkya Rahane and Brad Hodge.
