A total of five players have made 400 or more runs in a Test match, with the record belonging to an England batter. Back in 1990, he made 333 and 123 in a Test against India, making a total of 456 runs, the most in a single Test. In England in 2025, an India captain came close to breaking the record, falling 26 runs short of the world record.
