Mushfiqur Rahim made his Test debut as an 18-year-old on May 26, 2005, against England at Lord’s. He had to wait another 10 months for his second Test appearance and then more than a year for the third before he became a mainstay in the Bangladesh Test side following Khaled Mashud’s retirement.

Mushfiqur, who also captained the side, went on to break several records for Bangladesh, including being the only player from the country to register 100 Test appearances. He has also scored the most runs for Bangladesh in the longest format of the game, with 6510 runs at 38.75 in 100 matches, including 13 hundreds and 28 fifties.

His 100th appearance came over 19 years after his debut, against Ireland in November 2025, and he marked the occasion with a hundred in the first innings and an unbeaten half-century in the second.
