In 1992, Zimbabwe became the second team to not lose their first ever Test match. Until then, Australia were the only side to have done that – in the first ever Test match. In that Test, Zimbabwe’s captain batted nearly seven hours for his 121, the first Test hundred for his nation.

Zimbabwe had a reasonable run in the 1990s and the early 2000s. It was during this period that their greatest ever batter made 12 Test hundreds. So dominant was he that the next man on the list (his brother) managed only six.

For myriad reasons, their Test match appearances became more sporadic in the 21st century. Two other batters have scored six hundreds since then, including one who reached there in June 2025.
