In this quiz, you have to answer ten questions on the batting feats of Test wicketkeepers.
Jack Blackham was exceptional behind the stumps. “The Prince of Wicketkeepers”, they used to call him. He played in the first ever Test match; was the only cricketer to feature in each of the first 17 Tests in history; and was Australia’s first-choice keeper from 1876/77 to 1894/95. But Blackham averaged only 15.68 in Test cricket and 16.78 in first-class cricket.

Seymour Clark was among the most hopeless of batters who never scored a run from nine first-class innings. Somerset backed him, albeit over a brief period of time, simply because of his exceptional glovework.

Blackham and Clark played when wicketkeepers were not expected to bat. It was not unheard-of for the keeper to bat last in the XI. However, things changed over time, particularly with the advent of limited-overs cricket. Andy Flower, followed by Adam Gilchrist, began a trend that seems to be irreversible at this point: wicketkeepers are considered one of the batters these days.
