The 25 leading runscorers in the history of women’s ODI cricket consist of women from seven different countries, all of whom have played ODI cricket at some point in the 21st century.

The most runs in women’s ODIs have been scored by a former Indian captain, who has 7,805 at an average of 50.6. She surpassed the record held by a former England captain and current head coach, who finished her career with 5,992 runs at 38.1.

Overall, six players have scored at least 5,000 runs in women’s ODIs. Among them, an Indian and a South African batter – both part of the 2025 World Cup final – have realistic chances of climbing to the top of the list, with tallies of 5,322 at 48.38 and 5,222 runs at 50.69, respectively.

A former Australian World Cup-winning captain holds the best average, 53.51, among players with at least 2,000 ODI runs (4,602 at 53.51).
