A legendary fast bowler, famous for bowling the last over of the first tied Test match, finished with 192 Test wickets, but two of his contemporaries went further. One, arguably the greatest all-rounder of all time, had 235, while another became the first spinner to the 300-mark: he finished with a world record 309 Test wickets.

A legendary fast bowler raised the bar to 376 when he retired in 1991. One of his teammates raised the bar to 405, while another continued until he became the first cricketer across nations to take 500 Test wickets: he finished with 519.
