Can you name every England opener in men’s Test cricket in the 21st century and ace this quiz?
Much of the second decade of the century for England was defined by their search for a second opener to partner the man who sits first on this list, after the retirement of the man who sits second on this list. To score highly, you’ll have to remember all of those tried and then discarded, and also the occasional pinch hitter and nightwatchman picked when England got funky.

England's current opening pair, a right and left-hand combination, are fifth and sixth on the list of most runs by England openers since the start of the century. Both their captain and vice-captain, who typically bat in the middle order, have also opened the innings. Overall, 34 players have opened for England in Tests since 2000. Of which, only three have crossed the 5000-run mark, with the highest being 11845.
You have to name all 34 players in eight minutes. Good luck! To work with the names, the number of innings each opener played has been given as hints.
