In this quiz, you have to name the top 25 ODI batters in the world as per the ICC rankings, the day before the 1996 World Cup.

The 1996 World Cup kicked off under a cloud as two teams, Australia and West Indies, refused to play in Sri Lanka following a bombing in Colombo in January. Sri Lanka, their opponents, were awarded both games on the basis of forfeit, and qualified for the quarter-finals before a ball was bowled.

Sri Lanka did beat Australia when the sides met in the final in Lahore, lifting their first World Cup trophy. Their top scorer on the day, who also took three wickets, was ranked 18th in the world in ODIs on the eve of the tournament. Only one other Sri Lankan was in the top 25, at No.12.

The No.1 batter was from West Indies, who also had just two representatives in the top 25. England had the most, with five. India and Pakistan, co-hosts for the tournament, had four each while Australia and South Africa had three each. There were three Indians in the top 10.

You have five minutes to name these 25 players, with their team and rating provided. Good luck!
