The ‘most without’ cricket quiz: Who has played the most Test matches without ever bowling?

Somerset’s Jack MacBryan debuted against South Africa in the Old Trafford Test match of 1924. Visiting captain Herbie Taylor won the toss and opted to bat, and his team were 116-4 in 66.5 overs when rain stopped play for good. The Test ended in a draw. MacBryan did not bowl, take a catch, or bat ... in other words, did not have a scorecard entry on debut. Worse, he did not play another Test match.

For nearly a century, MacBryan remained unique in this until the Galle Test match of 1921/22. There, West Indian debutant Jeremy Solozano was hit on the head while fielding and left the ground. He suffered from concussion, and Shai Hope became his full substitute. Solozano is yet to play again, but he still may.
