While there weren't any noticeable incidents during the game, what followed after Suryakumar Yadav hit the winning six has snowballed into a serious controversy.

Indian players refused to shake hands with their Pakistan counterparts, which prompted Pakistan captain Salman Agha to skip the post-match presentation. Some reports also suggested that match referee Andy Pycroft might have requested Agha "not to shake hands with his Indian counterpart" at the toss.

On Monday (September 15) morning, PCB chair (and Asian Cricket Council president) Mohsin Naqvi made a social media post demanding the removal of Pycroft from the Asia Cup panel of referees, a request which has been rejected by the ICC.
