Matthew Kuhnemann and Bradley Hope added 101 for the ninth wicket to help Tasmania beat New South Wales in a Dean Jones Trophy match at Sydney.
Tasmania bowled out NSW for 224 at the Cricket Central in Sydney after Beau Webster won the toss and opted to field. Opening the bowling, Webster picked up 3-41 himself, while Nathan Ellis got 3-37. Kurtis Patterson alone made 110 runs for the hosts, off 125 balls, and was one of only three batters to reach double figures.
Matt Kuhnemann scores maiden List A fifty
Tasmania were reeling at 124-8 in the 26th over when Kuhnemann joined Hope. Barring Matthew Wade (40 in 41 balls), none of their batters had reached 30 until that point. But Tasmania did not lose another wicket as both batters attained their career-best List A scores. While Hope remained unbeaten on a 91-ball 49, Kuhnemann got his maiden fifty en route a 71-ball 56 not out.
The 101-run unbeaten stand is now the first century partnership for the ninth wicket among two Australians in Australia and, of course, a tournament record.
