Latest ICC men's Test rankings: Bangladesh all-rounder hits career high, closes in on Jadeja's No.1 spot

Last week, the second Test between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in Chattogramcame to an end with the hosts winning by an innings and 106 runs to level the series at 1-1.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz overtakes Marco Jansen, closes in on Jadeja

The architect of Bangladesh's victory was off-spinning all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Mehidy went wicketless in the first innings as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 227, but scored a century from No.7. He followed that up with a haul of 5-32, achieving the rare double of a century and five-wicket haul in the same Test. Mehidy also completed the double of 2000 Test runs and 200 Test wickets.

That effort has helped him move up one place in the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders, from No.3 to No.2. His rating has gone up by a total of 38 points, from 289 to 327 – a career high. Mehidy is now second only to Ravindra Jadeja among Test all-rounders, pushing South Africa's Marco Jansen down to third. Mehidy also gained eight spots in the batting rankings, and two in the bowling rankings.

The other major change to the rankings has seen Zimbabwe's Sean Williams break into the top 20, moving from 21st to 19th following his 67 & 7 in the Chattogram Test.
