mehidy Hasan century and five-for

Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz added another one to his-ever growing list of achievements in red-ball cricket, with a superb all-round performance against Zimbabwe.

On day one of the match (April 28), the visitors elected to bat first in Chattogram, and made their way to 227-9. Bangladesh took the final wicket with the first ball of day two, and began their innings.

Opener Shadman Islam struck 120, helping the hosts to 291-7 by the end of the day – a lead of 64 runs. No.7 Mehidy Hasan Miraz was unbeaten on 16, with Taijul Islam for company.

Taijul was dismissed in the first hour of play today, but debutant Tanzim Hasan Sakib stuck around to make a solid 41, in the process helping Mehidy reach a second Test century. During the course of his knock, the all-rounder became the 26th player to record the double of 2000 runs and 200 wickets in men's Test cricket.

Having taken a 217-run lead, Bangladesh then ran through Zimbabwe with the ball, Taijul taking 3-42 and Mehidy starring with 5-32 to seal a series-levelling victory by an innings and 106 runs.

Following his five-for in Zimbabwe's second innings, Mehidy became the 27th man to score a century and take five wickets in an innings in the same Test match. The last player to do so was Zimbabwe's Brian Bennett, against Afghanistan in last year's Boxing Day Test. Shakib Al Hasan (twice) and Sohag Gazi are the only others from Bangladesh to achieve this.

England all-rounder Ian Botham holds the record for completing this double the most number of times (five).
