India left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat picked up 3-36 to help Sussex dismiss Yorkshire cheaply in the first innings of the latest round of County Championship 2025 matches.
At the Central County Ground at Hove, Sussex bowled out Yorkshire for 194. The pick of the bowlers for the hosts was Unadkat.
His first dismissal of the day came in the 38th over when he removed discarded England batter and opposition captain Jonny Bairstow for just two runs. Unadkat, from around the wicket, steamed in and breached Bairstow’s defence to shatter his stumps.
This wasn’t the first time Bairstow had fallen to an Indian left-arm seamer this season; in July, he became Khaleel Ahmed's first county wicket after being trapped by a wide bouncer.

Just one over later, Unadkat snared Matt Revis for one, which reduced Yorkshire to 105-5 after a 69-run opening stand between Adam Lyth (47) and Finlay Bean (27).
The visitors resisted with a 52-run lower-order partnership between discarded India Test opener Mayank Agarwal and No. 9 Jordan Thompson. But Unadkat once again had the last laugh, dismissing his country-mate and breaking the stand with Yorkshire on 167-7. If it had not been for Thompson's 38 off 51, Yorkshire would have been skittled out for a far lower total.

Jaydev Unadkat continues fine County Championship form
Having played for Sussex for the first time in 2023, Unadkat was part of a title-winning Division Two County Championship campaign the following year, with 22 wickets at an average of 14.40. He extended his contract in October last year till 2026.
His first match of the 2025 season came against Hampshire earlier this month, where he finished with 2-41 and 4-50. His 3-36 in this game was his eighth haul of three or more wickets in a County Championship innings, with 6-94 against Leicestershire in 2023 being the best.
Unadkat has also represented India in 10 T20Is, eight ODIs and four Tests between 2010 and 2023.
