India left-arm spinner Sai Kishore took a five-wicket-haul in his second match for Surrey in the 2025 County Championship, helping the table-toppers set up a chasable fourth-innings target.
Surrey signed Kishore on a two-match only deal, encompassing their previous fixture against Yorkshire and this week's against Durham. Both these rounds of the Championship use the Kookaburra ball, which brings with it the potential of more overs bowled by spinners.
In his first outing against Yorkshire at Scarborough, Kishore took four wickets – two in each innings – and got through just shy of 70 overs. That match was drawn after Yorkshire declared on 517-6 in their first innings. At Chester-le-Street this week, Surrey bowled Durham out for 153 on Day One, with Dan Worrall and Sam Curran sharing seven wickets between them. Kishore took two wickets in the innings, dismissing Ollie Robinson and Bas de Leede in the middle order.

However, he starred in the second innings, leaving Surrey with less than 200 to chase with over a day left to play in the fixture. He took the second wicket of the innings in the 22nd over, getting rid of Ben McKinney, before getting Robinson and De Leede for the second time in the game, also dismissing South Africa's Codi Yusuf and completing his five-for with the final wicket of the innings, Matthew Potts.
Kishore finished with figures of 5-72 off 41.4 overs, his 13th five-for in first-class cricket. Durham ended with 344 in their second innings, Emilio Gay the biggest contributor dismissed for 99, setting Surrey 176 to chase.
This will be Kishore's final match on his deal with Surrey, with the competition set to go on its August break while The Hundred takes centre stage. Kishore has played three T20Is for India, all in the 2023 Asian Games.
