Manav Suthar is set to return to Warwickshire for a second stint in the County Championship after impressing across two matches earlier this season.

Manav Suthar to return to Warwickshire after impressive first stint

Suthar enjoyed a historic Test debut for India against Afghanistan in June this year, taking a six-wicket haul to register the third-best innings figures by an India debutant (6-33). He signed a short-term county contract with Warwickshire following his Test exploits and took 11 wickets in two matches, including a five-for.

The Bears have now signed the left-arm spinner for their last four matches of the season, against Hampshire, Glamorgan, Essex and Leicestershire. The first of those games, against Hampshire, starts on September 2.

Suthar has notably been retained in the India Test squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka in August. The second match of the series is scheduled to be played between August 23 and 27, so the spinner will have a week's gap before the start of his second stint with Warwickshire.

He has picked up 147 wickets in 32 first-class matches at 25.13 with eight five-wicket hauls and best figures of 8-33. He also has 1,071 runs at 26.12 with a first-class hundred.

The club have also signed New Zealand batter Will Young for the remaining six games of the Championship season. He played three matches for them towards the end of the 2025 season, scoring 72, 31*, 48 and nine in four innings.

This will be Young’s sixth season in the County Championship, having also represented Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Durham. Overall, he has scored 8720 runs in 143 first-class matches with an average of 39.27, with 16 hundreds and a top score of 174*.
