Mason Crane

Mason Crane was dismissed just one run short of what would have been his maiden first-class hundred in Glamorgan's first innings against Leicestershire.

Mason Crane hits career-best first-class score but falls one short of maiden ton

Crane was the third batter dismissed in the 90s in Glamorgan's innings after Kiran Carlson was run out on 95 and Sean Dickson was caught behind on 90. Having come in when Glamorgan were 265-7, Crane combined with Timm van der Gugten, taking his side to 334-7 by the end of play on day one. The No.9 batter was 48*overnight.

Having reached his half-century early on day two, a fourth for Crane in first-class cricket, he and Tim van der Gugten put on a 133-run partnership to take Glamorgan to 398 before Van der Gugten was caught behind off Ben Green. After a short-lived partnership with Andy Gorvin, Crance came together with Ryan Hadley for the final wicket, taking most of the strike in search of a maiden first-class hundred.

After making it to 99 in the second session of the day, Crane was facing New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel, who replaced Keshav Maharaj as Leicestershire's overseas player for the entire 2026 season. Getting down on one knee and looking to slog-sweep Patel to bring up his hundred in style, Crane missed, and his back foot dragged out of the crease. Ben Cox took the bails off, and Crane stayed on his knees, head bowed and leaning on his bat, dismissed agonisingly short of the three-figure milestone.

Glamorgan were bowled out for 440, with Crane top-scoring.
