Yash Dhull scores eighth first-class century in 2025 Duleep Trophy
The Duleep Trophy returned to its traditional zonal format this season. Dhull, playing for North Zone against East Zone in the opening set of fixtures, struck his eighth first-class hundred and his second in the tournament, having made his first against the same opposition in 2021-22, his debut first-class season.
He got a start in the first innings but departed for 39 off 67 balls as North Zone made 405 before bowling the opposition out for 230. With a significant first-innings lead, Dhull came out to the crease again when opener Shubham Khajuria fell for 21 in the second innings. He made the bowlers pay, notching up a 112-ball hundred with the help of 11 fours and two sixes.
Together with captain Ankit Kumar, who is standing in for Shubman Gill, he stitched a 200-plus run stand. Both remained unbeaten on 132 not out at tea, with Dhull’s knock coming in 153 balls – 37 balls fewer than Ankit. Dhull added just another run after the break, before being pinned lbw by the opponents' skipper, Riyan Parag.
