
Ben Duckett and Rishabh Pant achieved career-best highs as batters gained ground after the Test matches at Galle and Headingley.
Headingley hundreds boost Ben Duckett, Rishabh Pant's ratings
Duckett’s 62 and 149 helped him earn the Player of the Match award as England beat India by five wickets at Headingley. As a result, he jumped five places and is now eighth on the ICC Test rankings for batters. Pant, who used to be eighth, move up one place after becoming the second wicketkeeper to hit two hundreds in a Test match. These are the career-best ratings for both Duckett and Pant.
Ollie Pope and Shubman Gill also got hundreds, and are now 19th and 20th on the list. KL Rahul, another centurion, jumped 10 places to 38th. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hit the other hundred of the Test, and Harry Brook, who fell for 99, remained at fourth and second. Joe Root stayed at the top of the list.
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto hit two hundreds as well, in the drawn Test at Galle, to jump from 50th to 29th. Mushfiqur Rahim’s 163 helped him go from 39th to 28th, while Pathum Nissanka rose 21 places to 31st after his 189.

Jasprit Bumrah was already the top-ranked bowler in the world. So incredibly good had he been that despite taking five wickets in the first innings, his rating dropped from 908 (the highest ever among Indians) to 907.
Ordinary performances on flat surfaces resulted in Ravindra Jadeja’s slide from 10th to 13th; Prabath Jayasuriya’s from ninth to 15th; Taijul Islam’s from 16th to 19th; and Chris Woakes from 20th to 24th.

Ben Stokes had five wickets and played two cameos at Headingley. That helped him scale three places on the all-rounders chart to fifth place. Ravindra Jadeja and Mehidy Hasan Miraz continued to occupy the first two spots.
