The fourth Test of the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between England and India at Old Trafford ended in a draw. Here’s how the result has affected the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) points table.
India pulled off a jailbreak, keeping the series alive ahead of the fifth and final Test. After conceding a 311-run first-innings lead, India got off to the worst possible start with Yashasvi Jaiswal (0) and Sai Sudharsan falling to consecutive deliveries without adding to the score.
Captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul then steadied the ship with an unbroken 174-run stand on day four. Rahul’s gritty 220-ball 90 ended early on the final day, while Gill notched his fourth century of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy – the joint-second-most ever in a Test series – before his 238-ball vigil was ended on 103.
Promoted to No. 5 for the first time, Washington Sundar staged another rearguard action with Ravindra Jadeja, their unbeaten 203-run partnership featuring twin centuries. Both Sundar, 101* (206 balls) and Jadeja, 107* (185), remained not out, forcing a draw.
Updated World Test Championship standings after England's draw against India at Old Trafford
Neither side changed their position in the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) table. England remain third with a points percentage (PCT) of 54.17, having secured two wins, one loss, and one draw from four matches. However, due to a two-point deduction for a slow over-rate offence at Lord’s, they currently sit on 26 points instead of 28. India stayed fourth with a PCT of 33.33 (one win, two losses, one draw).
Australia dominate the table with three wins from three matches against the West Indies, who are currently last (sixth) among teams to have played a game in this cycle.
