England took the top spot in the latest ICC men’s T20I team rankings after beating India 4-0 in the five-match series.

India were swept aside by England across the four completed T20Is as they began the Shreyas Iyer-era with back-to back series defeats. They were first clean-swept by Ireland in a two-game series to start their tour of UK and Ireland.

They were then completely outplayed by England, losing by four wickets, 125 runs, nine wickets and 56 runs, respectively, in the four completed matches, after the first game was washed out.

The back-to-back series defeats saw India lose seven rating points and get to 268, while England rose from 262 to gain six points and dethrone India.

India had taken the top spot in the men’s T20I team rankings back in February 2022 and had since held that spot, totalling over four years at the position, during which they also won two T20 World Cups.
