England are in a commanding position going into the fourth day of the Lord's Test against Pakistan. Will rain play spoilsport again, or can we expect a good day of play?
England finished a rain-affected day three with a massive lead of 357 runs and three wickets still intact in their second innings. After scoring 290 in the first, they had bowled Pakistan out for just 110. But each of the three days in the Test have been hampered by consistent spells of rain, with bad light also forcing early closures of play.
The hosts commenced day three at 81-3 in 22 overs, but they could face just 24.5 more overs throughout the day and ended at 177-7, with Dan Lawrence unbeaten on a 50. The first session was washed out due to rain, and so was much of the third session.
A lot of the fourth day's proceedings will also depend on the rain gods, but the forecast paints a far better picture compared to the third day.
What is the weather forecast for day four of the second England vs Pakistan Test?
As per BBC Weather, there is very little chance of rain during the initial couple of hours of play. However, rain could affect proceedings between 1pm to 3pm local time, with around 57 to 67 per cent chance of precipitation until 5pm.
As per AccuWeather, there is a possibility of consistent precipitation throughout the day, with the highest of a 68 per cent chance at 12pm local time. It is expected to come down to 28 per cent by 3pm, with sun expected to shpw up through the clouds.
The MET office also suggests that there will be consistent spells of rain throughout the day, the highest being 70 per cent around 2pm local time. But with a slightly better forecast for the remainder of the day, fans could expect a considerable day of play.
Other than the rain threat, the pitch has also shown variable bounce, with some deliveries staying extremely low, like the one that got Emilio Gay early on day three.
