In reply, Italy, without captain Wayne Madsen, couldn’t get going, and other than a 73-run stand between the Manenti brothers, Harry (37 off 25) and Ben (52 off 31), there was little of note. They were bowled out for 134 in the 17th over, with Leask returning figures of 4-17 to take home the player of the match award.
Zimbabwe vs Oman
Oman batted first in the Group B encounter at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo, but were immediately put on the backfoot by a lethal opening spell by Blessing Muzarabani. The towering pacer picked up three wickets for just 16 runs from his four overs, while Richard Ngarava returned figures of 3-17, as Oman were bowled out for 103.

Zimbabwe needed just 13.3 overs to chase down the total. Opener Brian Bennett top-scored with a 36-ball 48, with the African side winning by eight wickets to start their campaign on a high.
South Africa vs Canada
Canada chose to bowl first at Ahmedabad against last edition’s finalists South Africa in the last match of the day. Captain Aiden Markram led from the front, scoring a 12th T20I fifty. David Miller (39 off 23) and Tristan Stubbs (34 off 19) finished the innings strongly to take the Proteas to 213.
Canada’s chase started on a bad note, with Lungi Ngidi removing captain Dilpreet Bajwa on the first ball. Ngidi went on to pick up three more wickets, taking figures of 4-31. Navneet Dhaliwal top-scored for Canada with a 49-ball 64 and was only dismissed in the last over, with his side finishing at 156-8, falling short of South Africa's total by 57 runs.
