England batter Jordan Cox, coming off the Lions' tour of Australia, scored a fifty in his third game of the ILT20 season on Sunday (December 7).
Jordan Cox scores brisk fifty for Dubai Capitals
Dubai Capitals and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders faced off in the seventh game of the season at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, DC batting first after they were inserted by Jason Holder.
Openers Toby Albert and Sediqullah Atal were dismissed inside the Powerplay, bringing Jordan Cox to the crease in the fifth over. He lost the company of Shayan Jahangir off the first ball post-Powerplay.
Cox hit his second delivery from Holder for four, before taking on compatriot Olly Stone in the following over. He was then kept quiet until the halfway stage of the innings, when he was batting on 18 off 13. A six and a four both came down the ground, off Piyush Chawla and Stone, before Cox manoeuvred Sunil Narine for an incredible five doubles in one over.

He then reverse-ramped Andre Russell for four to move to 49, and completed his 19th T20 fifty off 31 balls. He eventually departed for 52 off 36, attempting to accelerate in the 18th over. DC skipper Rovman Powell was the star of the innings with an unbeaten 96 off 52, and he also took two catches as his side went on to win by 83 runs.
Cox was part of the England Lions squad that arrived in Australia in November. He made 53 and 57 against an England XI in a warm-up match ahead of the first Ashes Test, and then scored 40 and one against a Cricket Australia XI ahead of the second Ashes Test.
He linked up with the Dubai Capitals squad for the start of this ILT20 season on December 2, and scored two and 31 in his first two games. Cox was therefore not involved in the Lions' four-day game against Australia A in Brisbane which concluded earlier today, where the home side won by an innings and 127 runs.
