South Africa have climbed to second in the ICC Test team rankings table after their historic win over India in Guwahati.
South Africa completed a world record win over India in Guwahati today (November 26), consigning the home side to their biggest ever defeat by runs in a Test match (408). It was also South Africa's second-biggest victory by runs in Test cricket, only falling short of their 492-run win over Australia in Johannesburg in 2018.
Having been set 549 to win, India collapsed to 140 all-out as Simon Harmer took six wickets to continue his stellar run since his recall to the Proteas Test team. The 17 wickets he took in the series took his career tally in India to 27, which is the most any South Africa bowler has ever taken in India. He finished the series with a bowling average of 8.94.
After they lost by 30 runs in the opening match of the series in Kolkata, the loss at Guwahati means India have suffered a Test series cleansweep at home for the second time in just over a year. They were beaten 3-0 by New Zealand last year, ending their streak of 18 consecutive Test series wins at home.

Following the match in Guwahati, South Africa have moved up one place in the ICC Test team rankings, and overtaken England. Australia remain at the top of the table, while India remain in fourth, eight rating points ahead of fifth-placed New Zealand. The ICC Test team rankings are separate to the World Test Championship table, in which Australia and South Africa also sit at No.1 and No.2 respectively. However, India are fifth in the WTC table, having lost four out of their nine games so far in this cycle.
