Here is a full list of players who have been penalised for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during 2025 Indian Premier League.

Clause 12.6 of the IPL Playing Conditions deal with over rates. As per the clause, a team has to complete 14.11 overs an hour. In uninterrupted matches, “the 20th over should finish within 90 minutes (being 85 minutes of playing time plus 5 minutes of time-out) of the start of the innings,” states the clause.

“For delayed or interrupted matches where an innings is scheduled to be less than 20 overs, the maximum time of 90 minutes shall be reduced by 4 minutes 15 seconds for every over by which the innings is reduced.”

If a team is guilty of violating these stipulations, they lose the extra fielder outside the 30-yard circle. For a first offence, the captain is fined INR 12 lakh. This applies to the designated captain of the playing XI if the squad captain is neither in the playing XI or the Impact Player. For the second offence, the captains pays double (INR 24 lakh), and the other team members are penalised INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their match fee, whichever is lower.

Until last year, in case of a third offence by a side in the same season, the captain would be fined INR 30 lakh and suspended for one match (if it is the side’s last game of the season, the suspension will carry over to the next season), while his teammates would be fined INR 12 lakh or 50 per cent of their match fees (whichever is lower). However, suspensions for over rate offences have been done away with for IPL 2025.

If a captain tries to escape a ban by handing over the leadership duties, the sanctions will still be applicable unless the BCCI is notified in writing about a formal change in captaincy.
