The IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans has tightened the race among teams to qualify for IPL 2025 playoffs - here is the updated points table after the rain-affected MI vs GT clash.
Batting first, Mumbai lost two early wickets, falling to 26-2 in 3.3 overs, before Suryakumar Yadav and Will Jacks brought back the momentum in the innings. Yadav scored 35 in 24, with Jacks smashing 53 in 35 with three sixes at a strike rate of 151.43.
From 97-2, MI lost their next five wickets for 26 runs, as they looked set to end with an under-par score. A fighting 27 from Corbin Bosch helped them past the 150-run mark, as MI ended on 155-8.
On a sluggish wicket, Gujarat lost Sai Sudharsan early before Shubman Gill (43) and Jos Buttler (30) joined hands, taking the score to 78, when the latter departed. A rain break after 14 overs, however, turned the game around. Jasprit Bumrah was the wrecker-in-chief, first dismissing Gill, then sending back Shahrukh Khan in back-to-back overs, getting the ball to nip and reverse as he finished with 2-19 in four.
There was another extended rain break, which then brought down the DLS equation to 15 runs off the last six balls for GT. Gerald Coetzee smashed 12 in 6 before he was dismissed, but had done enough to ensure his team won a nail-biter.

The win has taken Gujarat to the top of the table, with 16 points from 11 games.
Mumbai, on the other hand, are on 14 with two games left, but are still well-placed to make it into the top four. This was their first defeat after six consecutive wins.
