CSK, already out of the playoffs race, started strongly thanks to 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre. He brought up his fifty off 25 balls, becoming the third youngest to the landmark in the IPL. When Mhatre was dismissed for a 48-ball 94 in the 17th over, CSK were well placed at 172-3. But some effective death bowling from the hosts saw CSK agonisingly fall short by two runs

RCB, riding on their victory, jumped from third to first in the standings. The shift pushed Mumbai Indians to second and Gujarat Titans to third. Meanwhile, CSK languish at the bottom of the table with nine losses in 11 matches.
