Match 12 of IPL 2026 - KKR vs PBKS - is set to get underway on April 6 at Eden Gardens, but could rain play spoilsport?

KKR, PBKS come in with contrasting fortunes

Kolkata Knight Riders will host Punjab Kings on Monday with both sides having had polar opposite starts to the season. The hosts have lost both games so far and sit second from bottom after a host of injuries and the forced release of Mustafizur Rahman decimated their pace bowling attack. Varun Chakravarthy's dip in form has been far from ideal as well.

Punjab, last season's finalists, have gotten underway with two excellent wins thus far; Cooper Connolly starred in a tense chase against the Gujarat Titans before Priyansh Arya's blitz and captain Shreyas Iyer's half-century helped them swat Chennai Super Kings to one side. They sit in fourth at the moment, and will be eyeing a win to move into top spot.

However, rain could play spoilsport if certain forecasts are accurate.

What is the Kolkata weather forecast for KKR vs PBKS?

BBC Weather's forecast presents the possibility of an interrupted game. Even though weather through the day has largely been clear, there is a 46 per cent chance of rain around 6:30pm, half an hour before the scheduled toss time. The likelihood of rain hovers between 30 and 40 per cent throughout the rest of the evening and into the early hours of the following morning as well.

The prediction from Accuweather is not much better. It forecasts thunderstorms around 6:00pm and showers around 8:00pm with the chances of rain in the 50 to 60 per cent range throughout the scheduled match time, peaking at 63 per cent around 11:00pm which is closer to the end of the game.

Weather.com, however, takes a different tack to these forecasts; it is surprisingly optimistic. While the weather is predicted to be cloudy throughout and humidity hovers upwards of 70 per cent, the chances of rain do not go above 20 per cent at any point during this evening.
