What were the talking points in CSK vs KKR, IPL 2026 Match 22?
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad's dismal form with the bat continued even as his team registered a second consecutive win to pick up some momentum in IPL 2026. Sanju Samson, Ayush Mhatre, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Dewald Brevis were all among the runs, which bodes well for the franchise going ahead. Sunil Narine looked his vintage best, whereas Varun Chakravarthy went wicketless on his return to the XI.
KKR promoted Narine up the order, but the move didn't quite pay off. Narine, Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi all got starts but failed to capitalise when it mattered. Rinku Singh and Cameron Green's struggles continued as well. Noor Ahmad, meanwhile, put CSK ahead in the game with a brilliant spell.
Who were the top performers in CSK vs KKR?
Even though Samson lost his opening partner and captain early on, he built on his hundred from the last game to score 48 off 32 against KKR. Ayush Mhatre played a crucial 38-run knock off 17 deliveries, while Dewald Brevis scored 41 off 29. Kartik Tyagi was the top wicket-taker for KKR, returning figures of 2-35. Narine bowled an economical four-over spell of 1-21.
He was also promoted to open and scored 24 off 17, Rahane got 28 off 22, while Raghuvanshi hit 27 off 19, but none were decisive enough when needed to up the ante. Ramandeep top-scored with a 23-ball 35, Rovman Powell hit 31, but they were always facing an uphill battle. Noor was by far the best bowler for CSK, taking three wickets for 21 runs from his four overs. All three of his wickets, those of Green, Rahane and Rinku, came in the space of seven deliveries.
