What were the talking points in KKR vs MI?

Kolkata won the toss in a must-win game and opted to bowl first. On a surface where batting was anything but easy, Mumbai crawled to 64-4. There was a rain break of around an hour, but the interruption did little to help MI regain momentum. Tilak Varma made 20 off 32, the lowest strike rate by a batter facing a minimum of 30 balls in an IPL innings in the last 13 seasons. Angkrish Raghuvanshi walked off midway through KKR’s chase with what initially seemed to be an injured finger, though it was later confirmed he suffered a concussion.

There were a few stumbles in KKR’s innings, but a handful of misfields helped them get through in the end, in what was just their 12th win over 37 games against MI.

Who were the top performers in KKR vs MI?

The first innings saw MI struggle as KKR’s bowlers maintained tight lines throughout. The standout was Sunil Narine once again, finishing with 1-13 in his four overs.

In the chase, Manish Pandey first steadied the innings. Playing his first professional innings since IPL 2025, he struck 45 off 33 balls before falling to Jasprit Bumrah. There were a few hiccups for KKR, with Rovman Powell and Tejasvi Dahiya getting dismissed in quick succession before Rinku Singh took them home.

KKR now need to win their final league game, against Delhi Capitals on May 24, while also hoping Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings lose their remaining matches to stay in the qualification race.
