Pakistan’s Ali Hasnain has made a remarkable start to his first-class career, picking up his third first-class five-for in five matches when he turned out for Mashonaland Eagles in the Logan Cup in Zimbabwe.
The Logan Cup is Zimbabwe’s premier first-class competition, organised annually in the country. The tournament began in 1993/94, emerging as a platform for the youngsters to shine. Pakistan’s Ali Hasnain is the latest to make golden use of the opportunity, having impressed in the five games that he has played thus far.
The 21-year-old Hasnain made his first-class debut in the competition earlier in the season, picking up one wicket in the first two innings. He ended with a five-four in the second innings of his second match against the Mountaineers, starring in the innings win.
The left-arm spinner carried forward his form in his next three games as well: Against Southern Rocks in February, he picked up 3-35 and 5-95, while he ended with three wickets in the match against the Eagles. In the most recent round, which began on March 19, Hasnain, while playing against the Mountaineers, picked up two wickets in the first innings, before ending with 5-54 in the second.
Hasnain currently has 24 wickets in the edition, only behind Jalat Khan’s 28, at an average of 12.83 from eight innings. It is the best average among all bowlers with a minimum of five wickets in the ongoing season.

Hasnain impresses in multi-formats in Zimbabwe
The ongoing domestic season in Zimbabwe has marked Hasnain’s professional debut in FC and T20 cricket. He is also playing for the Eagles in the List A competition, the Pro50 Championship, as well as in the domestic Zimbabwe T20 league. He has picked up five wickets at 20.20 in the three List A games that he has played this season, while he has 11 from seven innings at 12.90, along with an economy rate of 5.25 in the T20 format.
Earlier, Hasnain represented Ghani Glass in the 2024/25 season of Pakistan's President Cup. He played three games for them in the List A competition, where he picked up four wickets in three games.
