Jake Fraser-McGurk roared back into form with a six-filled 88 in the MLC 2025 match between San Francisco Unicorns and Los Angeles Knight Riders on Saturday (June 14).
Playing for SF Unicorns, who had been put in to bat, Fraser-McGurk came out to bat in the second over after Tim Seifert was dismissed cheaply. He and Finn Allen then stitched a 121-run second-wicket partnership in just 10 overs. Allen continued his devastating form, scoring 52 off 27 hitting five fours and four sixes, but it was Fraser-McGurk who outshone him.
Jake Fraser-McGurk puts poor form behind
The Australian, who had not gone past nine in a T20 knock since March 2025, brought up his half-century off just 21 balls, having already hit six sixes and a four by then.
In the next 16 balls he faced before being dismissed, Fraser-McGurk smashed another four and five more sixes. He eventually made 88 off 38 balls, 66 of which came in just sixes - a whopping 75 per cent.
When he was dismissed, the Unicorns' score read 167-4 with six and a half overs remaining. Had Fraser-McGurk remained unbeaten till the end of the innings, it wouldn't be far-fetched to think that he might have broken Finn Allen's MLC record score of 151 not out made just two days ago.

The 11 sixes Fraser-McGurk hit is the second-most hit by a batter in an innings in Major League Cricket, following on from Allen's 19 sixes two days ago. Allen, however, was opening the innings, which makes Fraser-McGurk's effort the highest by a non-opener in the competition.
In T20 history, this is only the 32nd instance of a batter hitting 11 or more sixes while not opening the innings. Fraser-McGurk's 88 is now also the joint-lowest individual score in T20 history to include as many as 11 sixes, equalling Andre Russell's blistering 88* (36) for KKR against CSK in IPL 2018. It is also now his second-highest T20 score after his 46-ball 95 in the BBL earlier this year.
SF Unicorns eventually finished with 219-8 from their 20 overs and bowled out LAKR for 187 to win the match by 32 runs and go to the top of the table.
