New Zealand swept aside West Indies in the fifth and final T20I of the series between the two sides, Jacob Duffy starring in an eight-wicket win which secured the hosts a 3-1 series win. Here are the updated ICC men's T20I team rankings following the result.
West Indies were bowled out for 140 with eight balls remaining in their innings having been put into bat by the Black Caps. Kyle Jamieson opened the wickets column by taking a catch off his own bowling from Alick Athanaze off his second ball of the match. From there, Duffy was the main destroyer, getting Shai Hope with the first ball of his second over and picking up Ackeem Auguste two balls later. He finished with figures of 4-35 after also dismissing Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd.
Roston Chase top-scored for West Indies with a 32-ball 38, but he was one of only four players to make it out of double-digits. After bowling the tourists out, New Zealand made light work of the chase. Both openers came close to scoring fifties, Tom Robinson was bowled by Shepherd for 45 while Devon Conway finished unbeaten on 47 off 42 balls. Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman also made contributions as New Zealand reached their target with more than four overs remaining.
After the fourth T20I was washed out, West Indies came into this game with a drawn series scoreline the best they could hope for. They won the first match of the series in Auckland, but lost the second and third games both by fewer than 10 runs.
While the result has had little impact on positions in the ICC men's T20I team rankings, West Indies have lost some of their ratings advantage over Pakistan. West Indies' currently sit in sixth position but now only hold a two point gap to Pakistan in seventh. New Zealand meanwhile have edged closer to third-placed England, and are now only seven points behind them. They have also extended their advantage over fifth-placed South Africa, and now hold a nine point gap.
New Zealand's next T20I assignment will be against India in January, while West Indies will face South Africa also in the New Year. Before then, both sides will face each other in a three-match ODI series which will start on Sunday (November 16), before contesting a three-match Test series.
