PAkistan player ratings for SA ODIs

Pakistan won the ODI series against South Africa 2-1. Here are the player ratings for Pakistan from the PAK vs SA ODI series.

Saim Ayub - 9

3 innings, 169 runs @ 56.33, SR 94.94, 2 fifties, HS 77
3 innings, 2 wickets @ 45.50, ER 5, BBI 2-39

Ayub put the disastrous Asia Cup well and truly behind him. He followed 39 in the first ODI was with half-centuries in the second and third. He also bowled a decent chunk of overs in each game, including opening the bowling in the third, and held his own every time.

Fakhar Zaman - 3

3 innings, 45 runs @ 15, SR 72.58, HS 45

Fakhar started the series with a crucial 45 that set the tone for Pakistan's run-chase of 264, but followed it with two back-to-back ducks.

Babar Azam - 3

3 innings, 45 runs @ 15, SR 78.94, HS 27

Babar would have entered the series high on confidence after scoring 68 in the third T20I, but failed to convert it into anything substantial in the ODIs. While he did cross 15,000 international runs during the series, Pakistan will be worried about the form of their star batter.

Mohammad Rizwan - 6

3 innings, 91 runs @ 45.50, SR 73.98, 1 fifty, HS 55

Rizwan made two important contributions in Pakistan's two successful chases (55 and 32*) and failed in the second ODI which they lost.

Salman Agha - 7

3 innings, 136 runs @ 68, SR 75.97, 2 fifties, HS 69
3 innings, 2 wickets @ 36, ER 7.20, BBI 2-18

Agha anchored the chase in the first match with a patient 62 and followed it up with another score in the sixties in the second. However, questions can be asked of his strike rate in the second game (65) that Pakistan lost comfortably. The T20I captain's contributions weren't restricted to the bat, he also chipped in with two wickets in the third ODI.

Hasan Nawaz - 1

1 innings, 1 run @ 1, SR 33.33, HS 1

Pakistan's mishandling of Hasan Nawaz continued as he was dropped after the first ODI where he failed to make any impact.

Hussain Talat - 2

2 innings, 32 runs @ 16, SR 71.11, HS 22
1 innings, 0 wickets, ER 7

Talat played all three games, batted in two and bowled in one. None of his contributions were of note.

Mohammad Nawaz - 8

2 innings, 68 runs @ 34, SR 100, 1 fifty, HS 59
3 innings, 3 wickets @ 37.66, ER 4.91, BBI 2-31

Mohammad Nawaz scored a rescuing half-century in the second match to take Pakistan from 131-5 to 269. With the ball, he was economical even though he didn't pick loads of wickets.

Faheem Ashraf - 5

1 innings, 28 runs @ 28, SR 155.55, HS 28
1 innings, 1 wicket @ 40, ER 6.66, BBI 1-40

Ashraf played a quick cameo and took the wicket of Tony de Zorzi in the second match. He played but neither bowled nor batted in the third game.

Shaheen Shah Afridi - 4

3 innings, 3 wickets @ 38, ER 5.22, BBI 2-18

Captaining Pakistan in ODIs for the first time, Shaheen was largely ineffective with the new ball – supposed to be his strength. All three of his wickets came at the death.

Naseem Shah - 5

2 innings, 3 wickets @ 24.66, ER 4.87, BBI 3-40

Naseem didn't take wickets since the first match, where his three wickets included Quinton de Kock and George Linde. Like Shaheen, however, he couldn't create inroads early with the new ball. He was replaced for the third match.

Abrar Ahmed - 9

2 innings, 7 wickets @ 11.42, ER 4.21, BBI 4-27

Abrar was the best spinner on show from either side and arguably the best bowler on show as well. He was rested for the second match, and Pakistan felt his absence as they let South Africa chase 270 in 40.1 overs. In the two games that he played, he took 3-53 and 4-27, including top-order wickets on both occasions.

Mohammad Wasim - 5

1 innings, 1 wicket @ 48, ER 6, BBI 1-48

Wasim was picked only for the second game. He played a cameo of 12 at No.10 and took one of the two South African wickets to fall in the second innings.

Haris Rauf - 2

1 innings, 0 wickets, ER 5.66

Rauf had very little to do in the series, sending down only three overs in the third match which was dominated by Pakistan's spinners as they shared eight wickets.
