PAK vs SA

Despite levelling the series, South Africa lost the three-match series in Pakistan 1-2. Here are the player ratings for South Africa from the PAK vs SA ODI series.

Matthew Breetzke - 5

3 matches, 75 runs at 37.50, SR 68, HS: 42

A run of 42, 17*, 16 would have earned most batters a 6/10 rating, but Breetzke came into the series with an average of 77.83 (it is “only” 67.75 now).

Quinton de Kock - 9

3 matches, 239 runs at 119.50, SR 92, HS: 123*, 1 hundred, 2 fifties | Ct: 1, St: 1

Playing ODIs for the first time in two years, de Kock celebrated his comeback by going past fifty in each of his three innings. There were shades of familiar brilliance when he batted: he does have a few years left in him.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius - 8

3 matches, 142 runs at 47.33, SR 98, HS: 57, 1 fifty

In his first three ODIs, Pretorius struck at nearly a run a ball, while his lowest score in the series was 39. He helped de Kock put on three stands of 70 or more for the first wicket. It will be interesting to see where he bats once Aiden Markram returns.

Tony de Zorzi – 5

3 matches, 96 runs at 32.00, SR 99, HS: 76, 1 fifty

Coming out at 81-1 in pursuit of 270, de Zorzi smashed a 63-ball 76 in the second ODI. However, he did little of note in the other two games.

Sinethemba Qeshile - 2

2 matches, 22 runs at 22.00, SR 96, HS: 22

Qeshile, another debutant in the series, played a cameo in his only innings but did little of note.

Corbin Bosch - 7

3 matches, 41 runs at 41.00, SR 100, HS: 41
4 wickets at 28.25, ec 5.74, BBI: 2-32

Bosch had an excellent all-round show in the first match and provided two crucial breakthroughs in the second, but had an unremarkable day in the third.

Nqabayomzi Peter - 5.5

3 matches, 16 runs at 16.00, SR 52, HS: 16
3 wickets at 24.33, ec 6.08, BBI: 3-55 | Ct: 3

A middling series for Peter, who gets an additional half point for setting a new ODI record by taking three catches off his own bowling in the second game.

Donovan Ferreira - 3

3 matches, 10 runs at 5.00, SR 45, HS: 7
2 wickets at 57.50, ec 5.00, BBI: 2-53 | Ct: 3

Yet another debutant, Ferreira dismissed both Pakistan openers in the first match but had an ordinary series otherwise.

George Linde - 2

2 matches, 2 runs at 2.00, SR 22, HS: 2
1 wicket at 68.00, ec 6.80, BBI: 1-49

Linde failed in his limited opportunities in both departments.

Bjorn Fortuin - 6

3 matches, 2 wickets at 59.00, ec 4.50, BBI: 1-34

Only Abrar Ahmed (4.21) was more economical than Fortuin in this series, who played an excellent hand in curbing the runs.

Rubin Hermann - 1

1 match, 1 run at 1.00, SR 50, HS: 1

Flown out to Pakistan after he scored a fifty in the unofficial “Test” against India A, Hermann did not impress in his only innings.

Lizaad Williams - 1

1 match, 0 wicket, ec 5.14

An insipid effort in his only match.

Lungi Ngidi - 5

2 matches, 2 wickets at 31.50, ec 5.25, BBI: 2-32

More was expected of Ngidi, South Africa’s most senior paceman of the series. He did an acceptable job but that was it.

Nandre Burger - 8

2 match, 5 wickets at 15.00, ec 5.00, BBI: 4-46

South Africa’s best fast bowler of the series by some distance, Burger bowled a scorching spell with the new ball in the second ODI, and generally looked threatening in the series.
