The Southern Brave batted cautiously for the majority of their innings after losing the toss. They set themselves up for a massive finish after being 95/1 with 22 balls to go, but were reduced to 102/5 in the space of 12 deliveries. They could only post 117 eventually.
It wasn’t an easy chase for the Rockets. They lost three wickets with just 10 runs on the board after 25 balls. However, skipper Ashleigh Gardner and Nat Sciver-Brunt made sure they got over the line with two balls and three wickets in hand.
Who were the top performers in Trent Rockets vs Southern Brave?
Maia Bouchier was the top-scorer for the Brave with a 33-ball 38, while Lizelle Lee also played her part, scoring 31 runs. Georgia Adams was her best with the ball for the Rockets as she conceded only 14 runs in her 20-ball spell and picked up two wickets.
Gardner scored 37 off 25 balls in the chase, but Sciver-Brunt, batting at No.7, was the star, smashing 32 runs off 19 deliveries to take them over the line. The latter also won the player of the match award.
